Welcome, Winter!

All fall we were waiting for colder temperatures, and now we are in it. The deep winter days are filled with snow, flocks of birds staying warm together, tracks to follow, and the amazing resilience of the human body. Like the birds, we stay warm together by moving a lot. All of our daily routines take a lot longer to complete, but that is the nature of winter after all—a little slowing down!

The day was spent exploring all the different kinds of ice and snow and enjoying being in each other’s company again after a long break. We welcomed in new friends and instructors.

We gathered tons of “ice cookies” and built a fantastic crystal mountain on one of the local boulders. Friends built bridges while others continued to harvest and shuttle them down to the builders.

The path up the campsite became the perfect sledding extravaganza. Going down hill on a mix of ice and snow proves to be very fast! But we all took turns and managed to break at the bottom with some help from instructors Raei (White Pine) and Quinn.
