a Day of Honoring

This week we came together in honor of Indigenous People’s Day. We listened to the story of the Golden Flower that produced the pumpkin that brought water to the Earth, and provided the Taino people with everything they needed to sustain life.

We celebrated this story by carving pumpkins to honor the importance of pumpkins and what they represent in Indigenous communities, and how much joy they also bring to our lives when we come together in this way. Some of us went on an exploration to find milkweed seeds that we planted into the pumpkins to celebrate our stewardship on this land! We are excited to see what may pop up next spring!
