Flying Deer Nature Center is looking for motivated, responsible young people, between the ages of 13 and 16, to help staff our programs!
We have volunteer opportunities available for teen counselors to gain outdoor leadership skills, naturalist skills, and primitive outdoor survival skills by working with our experienced adult staff to support our year-round Homeschool programming for students ages 4–12. Adult staff will involve the counselors in many aspects of the program, including planning and debrief sessions, storytelling, and opportunities to teach and lead.
There are many possibilities to help out for one program day per week, as well as in our monthly Saturday program.
Think you may be ready to be a counselor? Ask yourself these questions:
- Am I ready to learn new things and to grow as a person?
- Do I crave more responsibility?
- Do I genuinely enjoy helping and supporting children?
- Can I enjoy myself outdoors in all types of weather?
If the answers are yes, apply to join us! Spaces are limited and although we can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to staff, we encourage you to apply and help support our outstanding programming!
