The Auntie Project is an essential element of Luna Moth, a rites-of-passage program that supports girls to form healthy, strong identity in all aspects of life—including relationships with family, friends and peers, their greater community, the earth, and spirit.
Your Role as an Auntie
The Auntie Project begins with an opportunity for each girl to look at the women in her life and decide who she feels respected by and who she respects. That’s where you come in! Asking you for support fosters this girl’s ability to reach out, and her understanding that there are women in her community that are honored and delighted to support her as she grows toward young adulthood.
As an Auntie, you will spend some time with your “niece” one-on-one outside of scheduled meetings, and some time with our whole tribe. You will be part of the circle of women inviting these girls into womanhood, listening to their challenges, and answering their questions. You will have insight into the wild woods women that the girls know themselves to be when they are with Luna Moth, and provide an additional connection outside this group.
Thank you for being the role model that you are in this young woman’s life!
