Have you ever noticed …

  • Leaves scraped away on the forest floor
  • Bark torn off a tree trunk
  • Animal footprints in mud or snow
  • Clumps of feathers, fur, or bones on the ground

… and wondered what happened? Do you ever wonder if a bobcat lives in your back woods or how often coyotes travel the same paths you hike?

Life and death, love, competition, play and survival are all evident in the forest. Learning to read the track and sign of animals helps us see those things even when we are not around to watch them happen. The trackers’ eye, experience, and knowledge allow us to unravel many nature mysteries.

Come join Flying Deer director Dan Yacobellis for a fun and engaging animal tracking program and learn how to use:

  • Track shape and size
  • Trail patterns
  • Habitat
  • Behavior

… to begin finding and unraveling the mysteries left by deer, fox, bobcats, fishers and more in your own backyard!

Please bring a snack, such as trail mix or an energy bar, and plenty of water—and be sure to dress for the weather!
